She completed an associate degree in Pre-Nursing at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, Mississippi. Melissa furthered her education at Delta State University, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Dedicated to providing quality care through the years, her experience includes pediatrics, adult med-surg, telemetry, ambulatory surgery, Geri-psych, swing bed (skilled nursing), emergency department, home health, specialty clinic, obstetrical with well-baby care, Clinical IT, and nurse leadership/management. While most of her experience has been in facilities in rural areas of Mississippi, she has completed contractual assignments in a multi-systems of care facility in urban areas of Sacramento, California.    

Through her experience of nursing in rural health facilities, it has allowed her to improve the patient experience. She has worked closely with medical, clinical, and ancillary staff in various settings to coordinate the care of patient populations, which has provided valuable insight and has allowed her to improve the quality of care along with impacting patient outcomes. 

Her leadership experience has created opportunities to directly impact the lives of patients. Melissa has a passion for working closely with patients and their families to focus on coordinating care in a multitude of different settings.
